The European Patent Office (EPO) has recently announced that it is to grant LightLab's patent application to protect the carbon cathode and its method of manufacture. The cold carbon cathode is the key component in LightLab's bulb. This event further strengthens the company’s patent portfolio and constitutes an important step towards long-term value-building and future licensing opportunities.
LightLab has in recent years focused on combining development work with efficient patent protection on key markets. It currently holds about 10 patent families and, as a consequence of the breakthrough achieved in the development of its lamp, now plans to further intensify its patent activities.
Light Lab’s CEO, Bo Madsen says that the positive news from EPO means that the company can not only boast a considerably improved performance, but also enjoy the security of a strong patent protection - and continues: "This is of great significance for our shareholders, since a large part of lightLab’s value builds on the fact that the technology is patent protected."
